GMC Canyon
The GMC Canyon is powered by a 2.7L turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with 310 horsepower. The 2026 Canyon is available in four-wheel drive with four trims Elevation, AT4, the AT4X and Denali, while the 4x2 model is only available in the Elevation trim.
Two-wheel drive Canyons are the most efficient powertrains and are capable of 23 mpg (highway). When properly equipped, Canyons have a towing capacity of 7,700 Ibs. The 2026 Canyon is only available as a crew cab with a 5-foot box.
Base Elevation Canyons are adequately equipped with standard features that include 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, 18-inch aluminum wheels, an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 3 USB ports, and 6-way manual driver seat adjustment.
AT4 models are more off-road focused and include an automatic locking rear differential, hill descent controls, integrated bed storage, an easy-lift and lower tailgate, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and off-road low speed cruise control.
The AT4X trim (previously a package) adds multiple off-road features including black gloss machined wheels, rocker protection, spray-on bedliner, front and rear locking differentials, unique interior trim, sport moldings, and underbody cameras.
The Denali trim sits at the top of the lineup and features side steps, chrome accents, heated side mirrors, LED taillights, 20-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, 10-way power driver seat, leather upholstery, 7-speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, 4 USB ports, 11-inch digital gauge display, heated steering wheel, rear pedestrian detection, and surround view cameras.
Like most modern vehicles, safety is addressed by a combination of airbags and electronic systems designed to help prevent an accident. The Canyon comes with rear parking sensors, active lane departure, active blind spot, forward and rear collision mitigation, front pedestrian detection, and following distance alert.
